Schools on Screen

Schools on Screen makes films about schools that are challenging the limitations of the current English education system. Our films are for anyone interested in dragging the current education system into the 21st century. I'm particularly interested in how to bring about change in small ways, gradually shifting a school’s culture towards a richer, deeper experience for students and staff.

Schools on Screen's first documentary (2022) is about XP School in Doncaster. We're currently working for Rethinking School, travelling all over England to highlight brave, groundbreaking education practice.

As a filmmaker I work fast – a prerequisite in schools, and a skill I acquired in my 21 years as a correspondent at the BBC.

About Meet the Parents

Meet the Parents

Research suggests that word of mouth is the primary way in which parents decide where to send their children for education. Knowing this, I applied my journalistic skills to create Meet the Parents.

The idea is simple: invite parents and students from the local comprehensives to come and talk to anxious parents in local primaries. This way, the information is up-to-date rather than based on old rumours and gossip.

Private Education Policy Forum

PEPF is the only think tank of its kind that looks at the effect of private education on equality of opportunity in society. As a trustee, I run PEPF’s research projects, guided by fellow trustee Professor Francis Green from UCL Institute of Education.

PEPF also hosts debates and contributes to media discussions about private education.
