I am a founding member of the campaign Time's Up for the Test (TUFTT), to phase out England’s 163 remaining grammar schools. I make films for TUFTT and contribute to the campaign strategy.

Rescue our schools
Madeleine helped set up Rescue Our Schools (RoS) in 2016, when the then government announced:

Major cuts to state school funding

The forced academisation of state schools (which it subsequently abandoned).
RoS was also a founding member of More than a Score, the campaign to end high stakes testing in primary schools.
In 2019 I won the NEU’s Fred and Anne Jarvis award for services to education. In 2024 I handed RoS over to Cherry Casey, who has refocused it on a single issue campaign to challenge toxic discipline approaches in state schools.
